Why Did My Card Get Declined?

If your card was declined when you tried to complete a purchase, it could be due to the following reasons:

Card Suspended
The card may be:

Turned Off - If the card is turned off, you can turn it back on by navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined. Then toggle the OFF switch to ON.

Canceled - If the card is canceled then a new card can be issued.

Card not Activated
If a card has not yet been activated it will get declined at the time of trying to make a transaction.

The card can be activated by calling the number at the back of the card (855-547-2896).

Insufficient Account Balance
A card will get declined if the transaction amount exceeds the available balance in the Brink's account. To enable a successful transaction, you can add funds to your account.

Exceeds Spending Threshold
A card will get declined if the transaction amount exceeds the spending limit set on the card. If required, the spending limit for each card can be reset by:

1. Navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined

2. From the card's Manage drop-down menu, click Card Controls

3. Renter the Spend Limit for the card and choose a frequency (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Available until)

4. Click Save

Restricted Category
A card will get declined if it is used in a restricted category. If required, the restricted categories can be changed by:

1. Navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined

2. From the card's Manage drop-down menu, click Card Controls

3. In the Categories section, check the boxes of those categories where the card can be used

4. Click Save

International Transaction Restrictions
A card will get declined if it hasn't been enabled for international transactions. If required, international transactions can be enabled by:

1. Navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined

2. From the card's Manage drop-down menu, click Card Controls

3. Turn Off the Restrict International Transactions switch

4. Click Save

Card Info Mismatch
A card will get declined if any incorrect information for that card is provided. Eg: Incorrect Security Code or Expiration Date mismatch.

Incorrect PIN
If an incorrect PIN was entered or you habe not yet set a PIN for your card, it will get declined. Here's how to set up or reset your PIN.

Merchant Not Allowed
If your card declines a transaction at a merchant, try another merchant. The card may have declined if that merchant category was not enabled on your card.

If required, category controls can be updated by:

1. Navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined

2. From the card's Manage drop-down menu, click Card Controls

3. In the Categories section, check the boxes of those categories where the card can be used

4. Click Save

Suspected Fraudulent Activity
Your card may get declined if an activity or transaction has been flagged as suspicious.

In this case, call the number at the back of the card to confirm the legitimacy of the card activity.

Card Not Present Restrictions
A card will get declined if it hasn't been enabled for Card Not Present Transactions. If required, Card Not Present can be enabled by:

1. Navigating to the Cards tab to locate the card which was declined

2. From the card's Manage drop-down menu, click Card Controls

3. Turn Off the Restrict Card Not Present Transactions switch

4. Click Save

ATM/Cashback Access
Only the Business Owner card has ATM/Cashback access. If any other card tries to withdraw cash from the ATM, the card will get declined.
